A wealth of experience for the NWAA

Gordon Owen has been appointed by the North West Aerospace Alliance (NWAA) to oversee an important part of its core programme.

Owen is the NWAA's new commodity group manager and joins from an extensive career in the aerospace and orthopaedic industries. Most recently held the title of senior vice president at international company Symmetry Medical's Sheffield site.

In his role with the NWAA, Owen will manage a vital part of the £7.1 million ASCE 2 programme. ASCE 2 aims to secure a competitive base of world-class SME businesses in the North West aerospace sector by driving forward five work streams: commodity groups, skills provision, innovation, shared services and the extended enterprise.

“I'm looking forward to helping shape the future of the North West aerospace sector in my new role with the NWAA,” said Owen. “ASCE 1 has delivered within North West aerospace companies a standard set of best practices, from leadership to supply chain issues. This has culminated in ASCE 2, which brings these companies together to share best practice and share decision making processes forming new collaborative relationships and shared innovation priorities between businesses in the North West aerospace industry.”
