Spirit Airlines has become the launch customer for Acro's new Series 6LC Economy Class seat, which will enter service on the airline's new A320 aircraft in November 2019.

Ted Christie, Spirit’s President and CEO, unveiled the new Series 6LC seats at the APEX Expo held in Los Angeles.

The Series 6LC seats will be upholstered in a soft touch matte-black synthetic leather with border stitching in Spirit’s signature yellow, providing a sleek and modern aesthetic.

Seat features include an upper literature pocket and a sliding single leaf table with cup recess. Passenger comfort is improved with enhanced seat ergonomics, thicker cushioning and lumbar support and a seatback pre-reclined to 24 degrees. In addition, the middle seat will be an inch wider, and the exit row will gain over and inch of pre-recline.

Alan McInnes, Acro’s SVP sales commented: “Series 6LC is Acro’s next-generation seat which has been designed to fulfil the product requirements of our low-cost carrier customers such as Spirit Airlines who want to achieve a robust and lightweight seating solution, without compromising comfort and the ability to offer seat features which will improve the passenger experience.”

“We are very proud that our latest seating innovation is launching with Spirit, a long-standing customer of Acro’s and a pioneering airline which is committed to delivering the best value in the sky while providing an extraordinary guest experience. The new Series 6LC seats will go some way to achieving this with its state-of-the-art features and extra-spatial seatback design which unlocks vital living space in the leg area.”

Partnering with the Charted Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIHEF), Spirit Airlines conducted a study on the ergonomics and comfort of the Series 6LC seats.

The ergonomics experts concluded that these enhancements allow for a wider range of healthy postures and movements, providing an additional two-inches of usable legroom compared to industry-standard flatback seats with the same pitch.
