The Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG) has announced online registration is now available for its 2019 Education & Training Conference, which will be held in Chicago, Illinois from 31st March – 4th April 2019.

The AMUG Conference, now in its 31st year, is open to owners and operators of industrial additive manufacturing (3D printing) technologies used for professional purposes.

AMUG brings together engineers, designers, technicians, supervisors, plant managers and educators from around the world to share expertise, best practices, challenges, and application developments in additive manufacturing. Building on its successful 2018 event, AMUG is adjusting its 2019 conference program to deliver more training and hands-on experiences.

Paul Bates, AMUG president said, “As the AM community evolves, so will AMUG. We are excited to present the new program with the goal of continuing to act on our mission of educating and advancing the uses and applications of additive manufacturing technologies.”

The AMUG Conference will include technical sessions and hands-on workshops designed to help users get more from, and do more with, their systems. As part of its conference program changes, AMUG has introduced a new Training Lab, which builds on its hands-on workshop approach, to offer an engaging training environment where the additive manufacturing tools are the focal point of the information exchange.

Unique among additive manufacturing (AM) events, a prime differentiator of the AMUG Conference is the openness of attendees and their willingness to share. Drew Wallburg, senior mechanical engineer at Cummings Aerospace, said, “…the best conference experience I’ve ever had. It was a fantastic immersion into an environment where everyone is open and speaks the same language. I cannot wait to come back to AMUG next year.”

The conference agenda is expected to contain over 150 presentations and hands-on workshops. One highlight will be the fifth annual Innovators Showcase. The showcase is an on-stage interview, which has the feel of a fireside chat, where attendees get to know an innovator in the industry and discover insights from that individual’s experiences. For 2019, the special guest will be Professor Gideon Levy, consultant for Technology Turn Around, who has decades of achievements in AM development, research and education.

Through AMUG’s Innovators Award, Technical Competition and DINO Awards, excellence in applying additive manufacturing and contributions to the industry will be recognised. The five-day event also includes the two-night AMUGexpo, networking receptions and catered meals.
