Aeralis visit demonstrates new partnership strength

Innovative British jet designer, Aeralis says it has continued to develop its partnering arrangement with Hamble Aerostructures, an Aernnova Group company, at a recent visit to their facility.

Hamble Aerostructures is offering integrated design support for the common core fuselage and canopy of Aeralis’ unique modular jet.

The collaboration agreement continues to enable Hamble Aerostructures to provide key support to develop the structural design to achieve the key Preliminary Design Review milestone, and begin industrialisation planning. This will support the production of the Aeralis jet to ensure that by the time the aircraft is being produced at scale, the operation will be streamlined and highly cost-effective due to extensive early work on the programme’s approach to production.

The two companies are working in close partnership with staff from Aeralis working at the Hamble Aerostructure site in Hamble, and staff from Hamble Aerostructures will be joining the Aeralis team at their site in Bristol.

The Member of Parliament for Eastleigh, Paul Holmes, also took in a tour of the facility and met representatives from both companies before hearing how the collaboration between Aeralis and Hamble Aerostructures can provide jobs in the local area. As a strong advocate for the aviation industry, Holmes welcomed the commitment to invest in the region.

Hamble has produced a variety of aviation systems over its 85+ year history.  Beginning as a producer of flying boats for British Marine Aircraft, Hamble has leveraged its capabilities into the civil and military aviation industries to become a world class composite, metallic and hybrid aerostructures manufacturer with additional capabilities for producing military role equipment and canopy systems.

Its extensive military aerostructure experience on a variety of products on multiple military platforms including Hawk, T-45, Tornado, Harrier, Typhoon, P8, C-17, A400M and F-35 make it ideally suited to assist Aeralis on this existing new venture.

Paul Holmes, MP for Eastleigh said: "It was great to meet members of the Aeralis and Hamble Aerostructures teams and learn more about their partnership. I am delighted at the success of Hamble Aerostructures, a valuable local business with a strong reputation. The partnership with Aeralis will provide welcome jobs locally and add another layer to the rich aviation history of our area. I congratulate all of those involved and look forward to seeing the project progress."

Tristan Crawford, CEO of Aeralis added: “This visit further demonstrated that our partnership with Hamble Aerostructures is going from strength to strength. The firm has a proud legacy of providing world class aircraft structures, and as we take this exciting journey towards producing the first British founded, designed and built military jet in 40 years.”

Paulo Mancilla, managing director of Hamble Aerostructures stated: “Hamble Aerostructures are delighted to be part of this exciting new, UK led programme.  With our long history and current capability this opportunity is the perfect fit for the Hamble business to demonstrate its expertise and to expand its military portfolio. We look forward to helping the Aeralis programme become a success and trust we will enjoy a long and successful partnership with Aeralis.”
