Altair Engineering has announced the launch of a new academic programme for its HyperWorks simulation platform.

Under the initiative, UK and Ireland based academic institutes can gain access to the entire HyperWorks virtual design suite at a fraction of the cost of a standard commercial license for use throughout their undergraduate and post-graduate engineering courses. By expanding the availability of the suite, Altair aim to help equip graduates with the skills, knowledge and practical experience of using an industry standard virtual design toolset needed when entering the commercial environment.

Established as one of the leading simulation platforms covering pre and post-processing, optimisation, linear and nonlinear solving, multi-body dynamics and data management, HyperWorks is used extensively throughout university engineering courses worldwide. In the commercial sector, the suite of products - including industry standards HyperMesh, OptiStruct and RADIOSS - are used by major UK OEMs employers including Airbus and Bombardier.

“There is clear evidence that employers of our graduates value highly the skills with the use of HyperWorks that they develop in their study at Leeds,” said Vassili Toropov, professor of Aerospace & Structural Engineering at Leeds University.
