According to the show organisers, the latest edition of AMB will feature more exhibition space, even more exhibitors and solution-based offers relating to the subject of digitalisation in the manufacturing industry.

German and international metalcutting experts will once again meet at AMB in Stuttgart from 18-22 September 2018 - with every indication that this year’s event will be the biggest AMB ever.

“With the new Paul Horn Hall, the special AMB show ‘Digital Way’ and the related Congress, we have created ideal conditions to make AMB 2018 even larger and better,” says Ulrich Kromer von Baerle, CEO of Messe Stuttgart. “An additional 15,000m2 will be available in the new Paul Horn Hall. We will therefore be able to satisfy the demand by exhibitors and also make the event more attractive for visitors by presenting even more products and innovations.”

The increase in the amount of exhibition space will also optimise the distribution of AMB 2018. The topics in the exhibition areas will be restructured: machining tools and chucking tools will be presented in the L-Bank Forum (Hall 1) and Hall 3. Hall 4 and Oskar Lapp Hall (Hall 6) will focus on lathes and automatic lathes. Hall 5 will feature grinding machines, tool grinding machines and everything relating to them. Alfred Kärcher Hall (Hall 8) will present the innovations in sawing and cutting-off grinding machines, surface technology, marking systems, hardening and heating machines, lubrication and cooling, and safety and environmental engineering. Hall 7, Hall 9 and the new Paul Horn Hall (Hall 10) will round off the exhibition programme with milling machines, metal-removing process machine tools, measuring systems and quality assurance, as well as flexible production cells/systems, machining centres, gear cutting machines and drilling machines. Suppliers of control and drive systems, CAD/CAM/CAE and production software will also be found from now on directly at the Entrance East and in Hall 2 at the entrance to the trade fair grounds.

During the première of the show’s ‘Digital Way’ and the associated two-day Congress, AMB will demonstrate the means with which companies can increase the potential of digitalisation using the latest information technology. The objective is to use AMB as a platform to show how the demands for higher sales and cost savings can be fulfilled, especially through increased employee productivity and greater machine efficiency.

Around 90,000 international trade visitors and 1,500 exhibitors are expected to attend AMB

“Companies want to know how Industry 4.0 and digitalisation can be implemented in production,” explains Gunnar Mey, department director industry at Messe Stuttgart. “What providers have already successfully carried out projects? What applications or models are available and are relevant to the respective company? We will bring together solution-oriented offers and demand during ‘Digital Way’ at AMB 2018.”

Around 90,000 international trade visitors and 1,500 exhibitors are expected to attend AMB. Within the exhibition area, the exhibitors will showcase innovations and further developments for metalcutting and metal removing process machine tools, precision tools, measuring systems and quality assurance, robots, workpiece and tool handling, industrial software and engineering, components, assemblies and accessories. AMB 2018 is backed by the promotional supporters, including the VDMA Precision Tools Association, the VDMA Software and Digitalisation Association, and the German Machine Tool Builders' Association (VDW).

“Exhibitors have confirmed that the capacities in industry are currently running at the highest level since 2008,” concluded Mey. “Now would be the right time to make necessary investments. AMB provides a unique platform in this respect since exhibitors present the latest state of the art advances here and show what is now possible in regard to digitalisation in production.”
