Ascent to unveil composite tooling systems at JEC World

Ascent Aerospace says it will exhibit at this year’s JEC World held in Paris from March 14-16.

Ascent will present solutions to manufacturers of composite aerostructures in hall 5A at stand M64, at what is said to be the largest international gathering of composites professionals.

Ascent Aerospace is one of the leaders in the design and manufacture of complex Invar and composite tooling systems. Ascent’s Coast Composites and Odyssey Industries facilities produce high quality moulds used to manufacture latest-generation composite parts including fuselages, wings, nacelles, frames, stiffeners, and doors. Ascent says it has produced moulds for virtually every major aerospace composite programme, and recent wing skin tools manufactured at Coast are the largest ever built.

According to Paul Walsh, president of the Ascent Tooling Group: “As aircraft and spacecraft evolve, our capabilities, designs and processes have advanced to meet new challenges. We developed our innovative modular tool build system to accommodate the ever-increasing size of composite structures.”

Based on the company’s patented laser welding technology and proven on more than 30 wing skin moulds, Invar layup moulds are manufactured in segments small enough to transport by conventional means and then assembled at the customer’s site. Manufacturing the highest quality moulds in a manner that supports international delivery has earned Ascent Aerospace business across the globe.
