Digital micrometers offer new capabilities for specialised measuring

Digital micrometers offer new capabilities for specialised measuring

Mahr, a global manufacturer of precision measurement equipment used for dimensional metrology, has announced a series of new Micromar Micrometers offering capabilities to perform specialised measuring tasks.

Micromar 40EWR micrometers are a leading innovation, featuring a modern look and integrated wireless technology for data transmission. Following the recent introduction of its 40EWR-L Rapid Drive micrometers with high speed measuring spindle positioning, Mahr continues to expand its product family with new micrometers for specific measuring tasks.

Every day, manufacturers are faced with the task of measuring unique part features where standard micrometers are not capable of making the desired measurement. To help with these unique measurements, Mahr is introducing five new micrometers for specialised measuring tasks, including:

  • 40-EWR-R/40-EWRi-R micrometers with spherical and flat anvils for measuring wall thickness;
  • 40-EWR-S/40-EWRi-S micrometers with non-rotating blade anvils for measuring grooves and slots;
  • 40-EWR-B/40-EWRi-B micrometers with 3mm diameter measuring faces for recesses and spline shafts;
  • 40-EWR-K/40-EWRi-K micrometers with blade and point contact for measuring wire crimps;
  • 40-EWR-V/40-EWRi-V universal micrometer kits with interchangeable contacts for measuring diameters over balls, threads and many other special lengths.

All Micromar 40 EWR/40-EWRi micrometers incorporate a large 10mm digit high contrast display; tolerance limits to qualify the part; a built-in reference system for setting zero position only once; and a “hold” function (digital lock) that allows measured values to be “frozen” so they can be easily read. All are IP65 rated so users can have confidence they will work in some of the harshest manufacturing conditions.

These new micrometer series can be ordered with a MarConnect data output (USB, RS-232 or Digimatic) or with Mahr’s wireless data transmission capability integrated within the digital micrometer.

Mahr’s integrated wireless data transmission allow users to measure faster, more easily and more reliably. Measurement data is transferred to an i-Stick on a computer without any interfering data cables, and MarCom software makes data acquisition simple: just take a measurement and transmit measuring data directly into Microsoft Excel or via a keyboard code into any Windows program or existing SPC application without the need for external transmitters or cumbersome cables. The micrometer confirms via a message on the display whether the data was transferred correctly.

Additionally, Mahr’s patented integrated radio, and the innovative technology behind it, allows the measuring instrument to be very compact and consume very little energy.
