Easier highlighting of individual parts in an assembly, and refurbishments to the Client Viewer both feature in a number of enhancements in the latest release of WORKXPLORE – the powerful high-speed CAD viewer and analyser from Hexagon’s production software portfolio.

The software was originally created to efficiently import and analyse all file types and sizes at high speed. It often takes less than half the time to open a file compared to the original CAD application.

Amongst the new and enhanced functionalities in WORKXPLORE 2021.0 is the ability to easily highlight individual parts in an assembly. And the selected component is now displayed in a vibrant colour, while the rest of the assembly appears transparent in the background. The purpose of this visualisation is to show the position of a certain part in an assembly.

Product owner Luca Clerici says the new item of functionality is simple to operate: “Just select the component, or the branch to be displayed, from the Assembly tab and check the ‘Highlight Selection in 3D’ box. The transparency level can also be set, by simply entering the desired value in General Parameters.”

The Client Viewer – the tool that enable users to communicate 3D parts and assemblies to sub-contractors, customers or colleagues using a stand-alone, lightweight application that can easily be transmitted through the internet, has been reviewed and enhanced.

“Firstly, it’s now possible, via the export window, to choose between creating 32- or 64-bit Client Viewer executables. Selecting 64-bit allows large models or assemblies to be correctly exported. And secondly, WORKNC toolpaths can now be exported.”
