The Experience Composites fibre composites and light construction fair is all set to open its doors for the first time at Augsburg this September. Aerospace Manufacturing reports.

Augsburg will be the central focus of the international composites world for three days, from 21-23 September 2016. During this time, the Experience Composites – powered by JEC trade fair will be held.

This fibre composite and light construction event has been developed by Messe Augsburg, JEC Group and Carbon Composites eV (CCeV). Industry insiders have been invited, as well as others interested in discovering the benefits of the future materials carbon and ceramic composites.

The Experience Composites – powered by JEC fibre composite and light construction trade fair - will be opening its doors in Augsburg for the first time. The show organisers say they want to use the opportunities afforded by the event to introduce the growing composites market to a wider audience: for example, a programme of events for school classes which already has 500 registered pupils. Further education seminars are being held within the framework of Experience Composites as well as the Fachtagung Carbon Composites, reinvented as a symposium. The CCeV, along with its competence network for those with experience of fibre composite technologies, will be presenting its latest research and production contents at the symposium.

Speakers will be on hand at the CCeV topic day led by Professor Ralf Cuntze, whilst Dr Robert Böhm from TU Dresden will be speaking on the subject of ‘Innovative material model and multiple stage simulation procedures for composite materials’. Dr Roland Hinterhölzl from TU Munich will be speaking on the design results from the MAI Carbon cluster, a project of CCeV.

Within the framework of Experience Composites, the 8th user seminar of Textilbeton, organised by Tudalit eV from Dresden, will also be held. An ‘Introduction into carbon fibre applications in construction’ will take place on the 23rd September.

Overall, visitors to the symposium will be able to select those speakers that most interest them from a group that numbers almost 50. And in both halls of Messe Augsburg they are able to seek out or maintain contact with the exhibitors.

Hands-on experience

All of the renowned companies in the light construction sector will be represented, either as exhibitors or with exhibits - from ‘A’ for Airbus through to ‘V’ for Voith Composites. The event is designed to bring together large concerns, medium-sized companies, start-ups and future users of composite materials and puts considerable emphasis on user knowledge and innovation demand signals. Experience Composites strives to further develop the composites industry, research and science along with the exhibitors and visitors. Current and new applications, innovations, ideas and pilot projects in the composites world will be brought to life in a hands-on way, true to the name Experience Composites.

The Bavaria-Swabian region houses a conglomeration, said to be unique within Europe, consisting of user companies, research institutes, scientific institutes, associations and networks in the composites world. Experience Composites makes use of this opportunity and employs visits to companies, users and scientific facilities, to aid the transfer of knowledge regarding composite materials. A number of evening events, including a shuttle to the Oktoberfest in Munich, promote networking amongst participants.

Professor Hubert Jäger, chairman of CCeV, welcomes everyone who has already investigated composites in some way to Experience Composites.

“Just as important are the visitors who come to get an overall impression and who wish to find out about composite technologies,” he explained. “To this end, the JEC Group is an international partner who brings numerous exhibitors to Augsburg from around the world, in addition to the members of CCeV who are joining us from German-speaking countries.”
