More than 1,000 trade visitors encountered 70 exhibitors and 45 speakers to exchange ideas about the latest trends as well as manufacturing and information technologies in the aerospace industry during the recent expoAIR international trade fair in Munich from 20-22 November 2017.

During the three days of the trade fair, exhibitors and visitors gained insights into new aerospace innovations and trends through presentations and keynote lectures from renowned industry and research representatives, such as Airbus, DLR, IABG, and ESA.

“The expoAIR started extremely successfully,” Thomas Eisenberg, CEO of expoSTAGE and organiser of the new event. “We have already received numerous requests from new exhibitors and participants, who came this year to explore the possibilities. They are more than welcome to join us from 27-29 November 2018, when the expoAIR opens its doors again at Messe München draws a positive conclusion.

Jan Brubacher, PR and marketing director at expoSTAGE added: “I was thoroughly impressed by the commitment of all exhibitors and participants. We were confirmed in just how important an industry meeting for the supply industry and the OEMs as a means to secure competitive product and technology developments of system suppliers, aircraft manufacturers, and supply companies is. The success of a trade fair depends heavily on the exhibitors, speakers, and visitors and their willingness to participate in an active exchange. Fortunately, we have hit the target this year and are looking forward to 2018 – with even more exhibitors and visitors from Germany and abroad.”

Peter Schwarz, CEO of the Bavarian aerospace cluster bavAIRia eV was equally pleased with the successful launch of expoAIR as the new trade fair for the supply industry in Munich: “Development and manufacturing for aerospace need to surpass the classical industry skills in their ability to further advance and specialise. This is why it is a great idea to organise an industry meeting specifically dedicated to these topics. New trends, manufacturing technologies, and challenges provide the industry and its new trade fair expoAIR with a technological and economic momentum. This was a successful debut, and the presence of many of our members facilitated an in-depth exchange, which we would like to deepen in the future. The distinguished lecture programme provided an excellent framework for the entire event. We look forward to the next event in 2018.”

After this successful start, the organisers are optimistic about the future: The goal is to win, next to OEMs and Tier 1 companies like Airbus, DLR, IABG and ESA, more supplier companies – not only from Germany, but also from neighbouring countries such as Switzerland, France, Austria, and Eastern Europe.

“It is important to make sure that a rising numbers of visitors and exhibitors does not affect the quality of contacts and business platforms,” stated Brubacher. “Manufacturing will again be the central focus. Other topics, such as innovative drives, unmanned aerial vehicles as well as heat and performance management are going to play a bigger role.”

The next expoAIR takes place from 27-29 November 2018 at the exhibition grounds of Messe München.
