Express Engineering, a leading UK subcontract manufacturing partner, is exhibiting for the first time at Subcon 2018 (stand D32), which this year runs from 5-7 June at the NEC, Birmingham.

The company will be promoting its precision machining, milling, turning and boring capabilities and specialist services for producing complex, high performance metallic parts. During Subcon, visitors to the Express Engineering stand will be able to meet with both key commercial people and highly experienced machinists who will be available throughout the show to discuss precision machining of exotic metals and answer questions about producing complex prismatic components.

Express Engineering has over 45 years’ experience in accurately machining to tight tolerances both small and large parts up to 6m long and 2m in diameter with highly intricate designs and geometries. Parts are typically machined from a heat resistant or high performance ‘exotic’ metal such as: high tensile bronzes, nickel super alloys, cobalt, titanium and Inconel, or from Jethete SS alloy, duplex and super duplex stainless steels.

One off or multiple parts, integrated kits, fully finished components with special processing or coatings, and complete assemblies are made to order and supplied to customers in small to medium batches on a repeat project or continuous call off schedule as required. OEM customers supplied by Express Engineering include major UK players in the aerospace, defence, naval marine, oil and gas, nuclear, IGT and power generation industry sectors.

In the last 10 Years, more than £20 million has been invested in production expansion and cutting-edge CNC machining technology and QC inspection facilities in line with customer and market needs, especially from the Aerospace, Defence and Nuclear markets. Today, Express Engineering’s centralised facilities in Gateshead cover 105,000ft2, with 90+ CNC machines and around 310,000 hours of installed annual capacity. There are six dedicated specialist production units for the extensive range of manufacturing capabilities provided: CNC multi-tasking, CNC machining centres, CNC milling, turning, VTL boring and EDM wire/ solid sink machining from bar stock, forgings or hipped forgings. The Express Engineering team also has extensive CAD/CAM capabilities, plus drawing free manufacturing (DFM) expertise.

Paul Sherwin, sales & programmes director for Express Engineering, commented: “We see Subcon 2018 as a key UK exhibition to showcase our expanded service capabilities to all the key industry sectors we now serve. We look forward to meeting both existing and new customers, especially manufacturing companies looking for components and assemblies used in industrial gas turbines, nuclear and renewable energy, power generation, aircraft engines, marine turbines, drivetrains and actuator systems.”

Additional services provided include: global raw materials management; grinding; coating; weld cladding, pipe butt welding; CMM inspection; hardness testing and NDE examination; aerospace approved wash plant and clean room assembly facilities; hydraulic and gas pressure testing to 22,500psi.
