Fraser Technologies launches SF30 speciality fluid

Fraser Technologies, a specialist supplier to the component cleaning market, has announced the launch of new speciality fluid, Opteon SF30 to the UK market.

Part of the rapidly expanding new generation Opteon range from Chemours, SF30 is a proprietary azeotrope based on the hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) fluorinated molecule, offering superior cleaning performance with enhanced solvency power, particularly when removing fluorinated greases.

Opteon SF30 is designed for use in ultra-low residue precision cleaning for highly demanding markets, including aerospace, automotive, precision electronics, and optics, where failure is not an option.

The product has proved most successful in removing fluorinated greases in applications such as hydraulics, pneumatics, high performance bearings, vacuum pumps, oxygen systems and production processes, such as pipe-bending.

With an excellent cleaning performance, it is also safe and extremely eco-friendly, with one of the lowest Global Warming Potential (GWP) figures on the market. As increasing numbers of organisations are considering their environmental impact, Opteon SF30 is a safe, nonflammable, and environmentally friendly solvent with low global warming potential (GWP) (<2.5) and does not contain any fluorinated greenhouse gases.

It is an ideal replacement for high GWP hydrofluorocarbon (HFC)- and hydrofluoroether (HFE)- based precision cleaning solvents, as well as HCFC-225, HCFC-141b, methyl chloroform (1,1,1-TCA), methylene chloride, perfluorocarbons (PFCs), and aqueous cleaners in many industrial applications. It offers a cost-effective, high performing product, with a significantly lower GWP. It is also fully recyclable and reusable, which reduces the cost of ownership and further boosts its environmental footprint.

Graham Fraser, managing director of Fraser Technologies, said: “Removing fluorinated greases can be a major challenge for manufacturers, but we’re already seeing excellent results from SF30. We’ve had a number of successful trials, and many of our existing customers are reaping the benefits.

“SF30 is a very pure solvent, which can be used in medical and nuclear applications, as well as on components that reside in harsh environments and under extreme temperatures, such as high performance bearings and aircraft. As it is fast drying, it allows cleaned parts to be processed and used immediately, with no need for surfactants, which removes extra washing steps to achieve residue-free cleaning. It is an ideal product for any organisation keen to improve their environmental credentials while not sacrificing on performance.”

SF30 can be dropped into existing equipment, allowing businesses to make a one-step replacement, saving time and ultimately costs.
