Mazak reports strong machine tool sales in 2021

Hartford releases new solution for aerospace users
With 12,000 and 15,000 revs/min spindle options, plus a swivel-type fork head with +/-240° of C axis movement and +/-100° of B axis swivel, the new Hartford double-column 5BC-X300 five-axis machining centre delivers power and versatility demanded by aerospace OEMs and their top tier suppliers.
Available from T W Ward CNC Machinery (Ward CNC), Hartford’s exclusive UK and Ireland agent, the 5BC-X300 has been specifically developed and constructed for the efficient (high metal removal rates) and effective (high accuracy) single-set-up machining of a wide range of workpieces – especially those processed by aerospace-focused companies and including engine components in difficult-to-machine materials through to larger, aluminium airframe parts.
Two spindle options are available, the HSK100 12,000 revs/min unit as standard and the HSK63 15,000 revs/min option, with both offering torque characteristics of 325Nm and 88Nm, respectively.
The machine can be supplied with beds from three to six metres long and 2.1m wide, offering working envelopes from three to six metres by three metres by 1.1m, to cover all machining demands.
In addition, the machine’s rapid traverse rates of up to 16m/min are complemented by automatic tool storage options up to 60 tools.
