Icon Polymer, a specialist supplier of polymer components to the global aerospace sector, has clinched a major contract with Rolls-Royce’s civil aerospace business.

This contract adds to Icon’s growing customer list, confirming its status as trusted partner to other major names in the sector such as Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier, Embraer, BAE and Lockheed. It covers the design, test and manufacture of specialist inner core fairing seals for the Trent 7000 engine which will be used exclusively on the Airbus A330neo medium-range passenger aircraft.

The contract was won based on Icon’s combination of technical expertise, high-quality manufacturing capacity, competitive pricing and its Face2Face working ethos, whereby Icon collaborates closely with customers from the outset of a project to understand and then deliver to their specific needs.

Icon will supply fire seals which will be tested and qualified by the company’s dedicated team to ensure they can withstand some of the most extreme conditions encountered in the aerospace sector.

Georgina Lewis, strategic buyer – complex fabrications for Rolls-Royce’s Civil Aerospace division explained: “Icon’s success in winning this contract was based on the company’s combination of quality, technical knowledge, pricing and above all commitment to working in close partnership with our team. The Trent 7000 is an important engine for us, and the exclusive powerplant for the Airbus A-330neo. We look forward to Icon playing its part in this project.”

Steve Rubery of Icon Polymer explained: “Our list of accreditations from the world’s biggest names in aerospace continues to grow based on our world-class manufacturing capability and our uniquely agile Face2Face way of working which enables us to understand and respond quickly to the needs of customers across the globe.”
