JEC announce 2011 innovation award winners

JEC Composites has announced the new winners of the JEC Innovation Awards Programme 2011 to be held during the JEC Composites Show in Paris from March 29-31.



“The composites industry is moving fast,” said Frédérique Mutel, JEC president and CEO. “Innovation is strong in four sectors: environmentally-friendly fully recyclable materials, advanced mould tooling, civil engineering with a large number of new infrastructures especially in Asia or South America and in automotive, with the increasing use of composites due to the need for lightness in new cars to compensate for the increased weight of electronic equipment or batteries.

“As we received numerous entries on these subjects, we had to create four additional categories that weren't in existence last year: Thermoplastics, Equipment, Civil Engineering and Automotive.”

The ‘Aeronautics' sector is represented in four winning categories:

  • For the thermoplastics category, the winner is Cutting Dynamics of the USA with thermoplastics seatbacks for the aerospace industry.
  • For the automation category, the winner is Brötje-Automation from Germany with a fully automatic machine to produce curved performs in aircraft structures.
  • For the aeronautics category, the winner is France's Latécoère with an innovative aircraft structure with advanced stitched performs using an RTM process.
     
  • And for the special JEC Magazine Price, the winner is MVC Compoentes Plasticos LTDA of Brazil with inner lining for the covering surface of the new passenger terminal at the Carrasco International Airport in Montevideo, Uruguay.
