Andrew Cash of aerospace components manufacturer A&G Precision and Sons is urging businesses to act now to be ready for new trading rules between the UK and EU.

The Business Development Executive says his firm has already taken action to prepare for the end of the Transition period on 31 December, and he’s now calling on others to do the same. A&G Precision and Sons employs around 100 people across three sites in the north-west of England.

“We have developed and enhanced our long-term strategic plan over the past 11 years through a rolling annual review that covers topical updates, such as the end of the Transition period,” stated Cash. “However, I would advise any business that the sooner they are ready for 1 January 2021 the better.”

Cash’s advice comes as the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, continues to update gov.uk/transition with vital information to help companies understand the important actions they need to take to be ready for the start of 2021. Support includes pre-recorded webinars taking businesses through the changes related to them.

A&G Precision and Sons manufacture precision engineered components for the aerospace, defence, Formula 1 and oil & gas industries, from their base in Poulton-le-Fylde in Lancashire.

Some of the steps they have taken include: Ensuring employees have the right to remain and work in the UK; Checking the actions it needs to take under UK REACH; Ensuring suppliers have demonstrated readiness for the end of the Transition period.
