Marshall Slingsby Advanced Composites has earned industry recognition for its contribution to a major UK aerospace programme when it received a Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) Silver Medal, together with BAE Systems, as part of the Mantis UAV project team.

“This outstanding achievement is the result of the BAE Systems-Marshall Slingsby team's continued and long history of successes,” stated Marshall Slingsby's managing director, Steven Boyd. “Recently the team also received the BAE Systems' Super Bronze Chairman's Award for Innovation when their work attracted the attention of Dick Olver, chairman of BAE Systems and sponsor of the Chairman's Awards for Innovation. Marshall Slingsby looks forward to building on this achievement, and previous ones, by working on other projects with BAE Systems in the future.”

The joint Marshall Slingsby and BAE Systems Design & Development team came together initially when it was given the challenge to build a fully-bonded carbon composite wing and tail set for the Mantis UAV. This played a vital part in the production of the Mantis UAV, which is the UK's largest fully autonomous unmanned aircraft.
