Simrit (hall 4, stand C13) comes to the Farnborough Airshow having announced that seven of its prerequisite elastomer grades used within the French Aerospace market have been certified for aerospace applications.

The company submitted samples of the materials for testing to the LRCCP (Laboratoire de Recherches et de Contrôle du Caoutchouc et des Plastiques) in Paris - a renowned laboratory within the rubber and plastics industry. Each material sample underwent a demanding test regime to confirm that it could meet application performance requirements.

The materials cover a variety of polymers, opening up many new market opportunities within the French market. In the medium-term, Simrit hopes to augment this position through involvement in new programmes, delivering high performance seals to the aerospace industry.

In a separate development, Simrit has also recently expanded its material product line with the development of its F273 material for the aerospace industry, which conforms to all the requirements of AMS-7273. F273 fluorosilicone elastomer products are manufactured in Simrit's Aerospace facility located in Santa Ana, California.

The F273 material is used in high performance, high pressure jet fuel systems and is resistant to jet fuels and synthetic turbine lubricants with a typical application temperature range from -70°C to 200°C.

The AMS-7273 specification requires that no appreciable property changes are allowed at exposure temperatures up to 200°C in dry heat. Additionally, this specification is made more challenging with high pressure, extreme temperature simulated component testing in fuel. www.simrit.com
