The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) says it will take part in the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) event at the Excel Centre, held in London from September 14-17.
The MTC will be exhibiting in the Manufacturing Hub on a stand shared with the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, which includes the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre and the National Composites Centre.
It will demonstrate the opportunity to rapidly deploy advanced capability at the front line through the consideration of manufacturing innovation early in the development and procurement phases of product programmes.
The MTC's director for sector management, Andy Barnes, said the MTC is already working with a number of major UK defence industry partners: "The MTC and wider HVM Catapult network has a significant amount to offer the defence and security sector to minimise cost and time and, most importantly, maximise front line availability of equipment and capability. This is achieved by establishing an approach to manufacturing and supply chain readiness from the start, alongside technology development throughout a programme.
"Like all industry sectors, the UK defence and security sector is having to adapt to exponential technological change. The HVM Catapult specialises in the development and application of manufacturing and process technology that can accelerate industrial growth and improve productivity.
“DSEI brings together leading suppliers and manufacturers with end-users, and we aim to demonstrate to them how innovative and emerging manufacturing technologies can help address the challenges of producing and maintaining the next generation of defence and security equipment."
The MTC aims to provide a competitive environment to bridge the gap between university-based research and the development of innovative manufacturing solutions, in line with the Government’s manufacturing strategy. The MTC is part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, supported by Innovate UK.
