New head of delegations and protocol joins Airshow team

Farnborough International has announced that Julie Mears has been appointed as head of delegations and protocol overseeing the military and commercial delegations programme for the Farnborough International Airshow and the Bahrain International Airshow.

Farnborough International has announced that Julie Mears (pictured) has been appointed as head of delegations and protocol overseeing the military and commercial delegations programme for the Farnborough International Airshow and the Bahrain International Airshow.

She takes over from Jayne Thomson who retires at the end of the next Farnborough International Airshow which takes place from 16-22 July 2018.

Speaking about the appointment, Farnborough International commercial director, Amanda Stainer said: “Julie has developed and maintained key working relationships worldwide with defence and aerospace companies. She has an in-depth knowledge of the industry, including specialist media, government and trade associations all underpinned with her tradeshow and event experience. It is great that she has been able to join the team at this time, it will ensure a smooth transition in the run-up to the airshow and beyond.”

Mears added: “This is an exciting and challenging new role for me after many years at UTC Aerospace Systems. I’m looking forward to working with the team at Farnborough and developing the military and commercial delegations’ programmes with its customers.”
