New investment sees Tridan increase capacity

Tridan Engineering has announced two additions to its ever-growing machinery portfolio.

The Mazak Quick Turn 200MSY, due to be delivered this month, and the Yamazaki Mazak Variaxis i500 SmoothX, with a six pallet Palletech system arriving in April 2018, will see the company dramatically increase its workload capacity for 2018.

The Quick Turn 200MSY, which boasts the latest Mazak control, the Smooth G system, with full touch screen functionality, will give over 90 hours of extra capacity a week. It offers improvement in efficiency using a second spindle to produce components in ‘one-hit’ along with full Y-axis capability performing complete milling cycles. This will reduce cycle times and, with manual intervention between operations no longer required, will minimise non-conforming parts. It also allows computer-generated models to be both imported and programmed, and it incorporates a fully programmable C-axis to 0.001-degree increments.

In April 2018, the Yamazaki Mazak Variaxis i500 SmoothX, with a six pallet Palletech system will join the company’s already successful range. With 5-axis capability, it enables contouring of complex parts and ‘one-hit’ machining of more conventional parts, something which would usually take three to six operations on 3- and 4-axis machines. It is also equipped with the new SmoothX system, which is fully touch screen ready and, when used with their suite of off-line programming software, gives minimal set up times on even the most complex of parts.

“Here at Tridan Engineering we are continually looking to improve our services for the benefits of our customers,” explained managing director, Paul Hawkins. “These two new purchases offer us more opportunities for ‘lights out’ machining and will help us increase our workload without compromising on quality. The 200MSY is a great addition to our shop floor and the additional i500 Variaxis will be linked to a six-pallet automated system, the Palletech, which will allow multiple parts to be machined without loading. This configuration is a huge benefit and will see an extra 20 hours a day capacity. Through buying the latest technology and keeping in touch with future developments we are able to offer our customers the very best in quality, cost and delivery.”
