NWAA forges Canadian partnership at Farnborough

Signed at the Farnborough International Airshow, two key aerospace cluster organisations have entered into a partnership which will see them trade information and support.

The North West Aerospace Alliance (NWAA) has signed the memorandum of understanding with Aéro Montréal.
Martin Wright, chief executive of the NWAA, signed the agreement with Suzanne Benoît, his counterpart at Aero Montréal, Canada. Clément Gignac, Québec Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade, was present to oversee the deal, and has praised the partnership as a ‘real opportunity.'

The two groups will now work closely together and have pledged to exchange information on supply chain development initiatives and the offers or needs of cluster members. They will also explore possibilities of taking part in local and international projects and programmes and support each other's projects.

“The North West Aerospace Alliance has developed significant expertise in the development and shaping of aerospace supply chains and we are pleased to announce this collaborative agreement with Aéro Montréal,” said Wright. “We are both committed to a collaborative approach and look forward to developing a close working relationship to the benefit of both our organisations.”

Benoît welcomed the initiative, saying it will provide significant benefits to Québec's aerospace industry: “We share similar objectives for our respective members and strongly believe in the potential for dialogue on mutual challenges and the sharing of best practices, mainly in the area of supply chain optimisation.”

Minister Gignac said: “The signing of this cooperation agreement clearly demonstrates Québec's leadership in the global aerospace industry. This is a real opportunity for the sector to benefit from the expertise of a foreign partner in supply chain management and to build bridges and forge alliances with companies in the UK.”
