Arconic has announced that it has delivered its millionth turbine blade to Safran Helicopter Engines from its facility in Normandy, France, marking a milestone in the companies’ 60-year aerospace partnership.

Arconic’s superalloy turbine blades enable Safran Helicopter Engines’ most advanced programs, including the latest Arrano and Ardiden engines and the company’s best-selling Arriel engine.

Frédéric Hendrick, vice president and general manager, Europe Airfoils & Structural Castings, Arconic, said: “At Arconic, one of our core beliefs is we win when our customers win. The delivery of our millionth turbine blade to Safran Helicopter Engines is a testament to how Arconic’s advanced materials and technologies do just that, and help our aerospace customers soar. We are proud of our longstanding partnership with Safran, and we look forward to working together on more breakthrough innovation in the years to come.”

Arconic’s facility in Normandy produced its first turbine blade for Safran Helicopter Engines in 1996. The facility manufactures innovative multi-material and superalloy solutions for aerospace, including turbine blades and vanes for civil and military aircrafts and helicopters, as well as industrial gas turbine engines and turbocharger blades.

“This millionth blade highlights our longstanding partnership with Arconic to equip our wide range of helicopter engines, and reflects the trust we have built together over the years,” says Frédéric Rascouailles, Safran Helicopter Engines EVP purchasing. ”We rely on Arconic solutions and expertise for our new generation helicopter engines.”

With 3,000 employees at more than a dozen locations, France is the second largest market for Arconic after the United States. Arconic’s Dives-sur-Mer facility manufactures precision investment castings, turbine blades and vanes for the aerospace industry as well as for industrial gas turbine engines and automotive turbochargers.
