Positive quarter signals further expansion at KMF

Record sales of £6 million in the first quarter of KMF's (Precision Sheet Metal) financial year has signalled a commitment to further expand its manufacturing plant.

Record sales of £6 million in the first quarter of Newcastle-under-Lyme based KMF's (Precision Sheet Metal) financial year has signalled a commitment to further expand its manufacturing plant.

“These increased sales figures continue what has been a positive trend for KMF,” said Gareth Higgins, KMF's managing director. “They have put us firmly on track for 15% growth in the current financial year, with much of that being generated through enhancing the partnerships with our existing customers. We are extremely pleased by the increase we are seeing in the aerospace sector, where we are working closely with customers and investing to meet specific requirements, to reduce their manufacturing costs, and to improve their profitability.”

In the aerospace sector, KMF has increased turnover on the back of its commitment to investing in specific skill sets, creating dedicated manufacturing teams and gaining accreditations in order to fulfil the requirements of a specific customer in the premium aircraft seating sector. It's taken full responsibility for the manufacture of the chassis of these complex aircraft seats, initiating a Direct Line Feed (DLF) to ensure parts are supplied to the assembly facility as and when they are required. Specialist coded welding skills have been developed to meet aerospace quality standards.

This increased demand has resulted in the purchase of additional manufacturing space. Located directly opposite KMF's existing site in Newcastle-under-Lyme, a new unit will be dedicated to the manufacture of high technology components and assemblies. With the building alone costing some £600,000 this is a major investment for KMF, but it's one that it is entering into with confidence thanks to the positive response to the high levels of product quality, design and integration skills and the long-term relationships that it develops with customers.
