Siemens has strengthened its senior leadership team with the appointment of Gary Carroll to the position of head of aerospace, UK & Ireland.

As businesses in the aerospace sector embark on their digitisation journey to innovate and drive efficiency, Carroll’s new role will enable greater collaboration between Siemens and its strategic customers looking to exploit industrial digital technology. In addition, Carroll will work with new corporate aerospace partners and the sector’s industry stakeholders to influence change and contribute to the policy, standards and regulations discussions that are crucial through this period of technological change.

On his new appointment, Carroll commented: “The aerospace manufacturing landscape is on the cusp of significant change, as the sector now collectively moves toward seamless integration of digital and physical systems, with the ultimate objective of interconnecting every process essential to the production of aircraft and other aviation platforms.

“At this exciting time, I am delighted to have been appointed to head up the Siemens UK & Ireland aerospace sector team and will be exploring the ways we can continue to collaborate with customers, gaining greater insight into their business strategies, and further aligning this with Siemens technology and our services offering to deliver more value for them.”

Brian Holliday, managing director, Digital Factory at Siemens UK & Ireland, said: “With UK manufacturing starting 2017 on a stronger footing, the aerospace sector remains a key local contributor to the economy and we are proud to work with its leading players in introducing industrial and digital innovation.
