The Farnborough International Airshow is a truly global event, attracting more international visitors than any other major aerospace event and is the largest advanced engineering trade event in the UK.
Farnborough presents a tremendous opportunity for UK Trade & Investment to market the UK aerospace sector to an international audience. The UK possesses the largest aerospace sector in Europe and enjoys a 17% share of the global market, second only to the USA.
The UK has a large and vibrant aerospace SME supply base of around 3,000 companies, the largest in Europe. UKTI, in close partnership with A|D|S, has developed an International Aerospace Strategy Report to assist these companies with a particular focus on the fast-growing aerospace markets of China, India, Brazil and Russia. UK companies can obtain a copy of this report from UKTI's head of aerospace, Neil Semple at neil.semple@ukti.gsi.gov.uk.
A major strand of UKTI's activity at this year's show will be providing market access information to UK companies and facilitating international contacts at the show. Its stand (hall 1, stand B12) will act as an International Business Networking hub and will be easily accessible to UK companies as it is situated within the UK Village, where A|D|S, the Regional Aerospace Alliances and Devolved Administrations are located.
The UKTI programme of events at its stand in Hall 1 will include:
• Market briefings, including Brazil, China, India, Russia, Japan, South Korea, USA, Mexico and France, where UKTI aerospace specialists and industry representatives from these markets will outline key business opportunities that UK companies can access
• UK capability briefings, delivered in partnership with the Aerospace & Defence Knowledge Transfer Network. These briefings will enable international visitors to the show to learn about UK innovation & R&D in high value areas such as autonomous systems, composites and sensors and instrumentation. There are also sessions targeted at UK aerospace companies highlighting diversification opportunities in the wind energy and nuclear sectors
• Facilitation of meetings for UK aerospace companies with UKTI aerospace and airports specialists from 25 markets
In addition, to the programme of activity in hall 1, UKTI, working in partnership with A|D|S, has invited major civil aerospace companies from China, India, Russia and South Korea. A programme of pre-arranged meetings to UK company exhibition stands will be designed tailored to the requirements and interest areas of the delegates.
UKTI is also providing sponsorship towards the UK element of Farnborough International Ltd's Meet-the-Buyer event, which is taking place between 20-21 July, where UK aerospace companies can meet key international procurement executives and specifiers.
