Last summer, as the company received a Queen’s Award for Enterprise, Third Dimension restructured and the leadership team developed a new strategy to build a better business. This strategy is creating record profits which are now being reinvested back into the business and developing further the new strategy.
Tim Monks, CEO and founder of Third Dimension, said: “Our new strategy, based on the three pillars of trusted partnerships, definitive solutions and financial stability, is bearing fruit with a strong order book. Technologically, we are also delivering more than ever before.”
As part of this strategy, Third Dimension automated its data systems, outsourced more production to local companies, and built a comprehensive customer and supplier portal.
Monks added: “Our evolution as a company has been strongly supported with powerful new branding. Reflecting our image and reputation, this was put into place after a thorough re-evaluation of how we approach our work.”
One of these foundations, the trusted partnerships and best practice pillar, is already delivering for Third Dimension’s customers, making their production lines more efficient. For example, the company has recently received notable praise from Agusta Westland in a very practical way. In early results, GapGun has significantly reduced their MRO inspection times for interior and exterior composite panels of Merlin helicopters by almost 90%.
Keith Masterton, Agusta Westland’s Merlin depth business manager, said: “...the previous manual process using a depth gauge took two-and-a-half hours, the GapGun measures it in just 20 minutes. It gives us a very quick indication as to whether the damaged area, or perceived damaged area, is within acceptable limits.”
