Trelleborg’s applied technologies operation has unveiled its new ultra-lightweight fire-resistant material at the inaugural International Composites Summit (ICS), London, held from 8-9 September.
Neil O’Keeffe, technical director at Trelleborg’s operation in Rochdale will present the novel Soteria FRV material for use in electric vehicle (EV) battery protection and increased fire risk applications during the conference, highlighting its unique flame-resistant properties.
Kerry Lyons, global business manager for Trelleborg’s applied technologies operation in Rochdale, said: “We are very pleased to launch Soteria FRV, the second material in our Soteria range of protection materials. Weighing just 1.2kg/m2, Soteria FRV is ultra-lightweight and extremely flexible. The material is capable of shaping to fit areas of any size, or for draping or wrapping around difficult profiles. When combined with Soteria FR1500 panels, it creates a lightweight, protective solution that is perfect for electric vehicle (EV) battery boxes and enclosures, or as a stand-alone option for increased fire risk applications.”
Trelleborg’s Soteria FRV material is flame-resistant to +1,100°C for up to 90 minutes, with no burn through or expansion during a fire. Soteria FRV requires no ongoing maintenance once in situ and is easy to transport and install, making it suitable for both new and upgraded applications.
Soteria FRV material will be on display in the Product Innovation Zone during the conference for delegates to view.
