Editor's comment: Whatever you want!

What could be described as the ‘Heinz 57’ of engineering tradeshows will soon roll into the Birmingham NEC this November to offer a little bit of a lot of different manufacturing-based technologies.

Previewed in this issue, Advanced Engineering 2017 is much more than just the sum of its parts, and arguably offers some of the best opportunities to discover more about someone - or something - you didn’t know existed.

From the very beginnings of 2009’s Aero Engineering Show, event organiser Easyfairs will once again use Advanced Engineering’s umbrella to showcase the innovations within its five co-locating engineering sectors: Aero Engineering, Composites Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Performance Metals Engineering and new this year, Connected Manufacturing.

More than 700 exhibitors will descend on the NEC to showcase their products, whilst thousands of visitors comprising engineers, procurement managers and senior decision makers from small to large companies will all be looking to source, specify and invest in the most up-to-date products and explore industry innovations.

Easyfairs claims this year’s Aero Engineering will enjoy even more support from the ADS Group, with a keynote presentation on SC21 designed to help ensure exhibitors can maximise business opportunities. Meanwhile, the Aero Engineering Open Conference Programme will host talks from OEM giants Airbus and Boeing, plus the Department of International Trade and the NATEP aerospace technology programme.

It’s said that variety is the spice of life and this sentiment can be applied to what many manufacturing tradeshows spin us every year. Time and time again, we’ll meet and greet the usual suspects roving around the exhibition aisles, catch up, press the flesh and recount many fond memories.

Hopefully, Easyfairs will deliver fresh opportunities to exhibitors and visitors alike, so they can experience both new customers and new products – the kinds that they wouldn’t normally expect to see at these events.
