Winbro Group powers ahead in 2010

Against a backdrop of uncertainty, Winbro Group Technologies has bucked the trend by securing new business, creating additional manufacturing jobs and also opening a new facility in the USA.

The economic climate continues to be a challenge for many sectors of the UK's manufacturing base, with order books thin and the future unclear. Against this backdrop of uncertainty, Leicestershire-based Winbro Group Technologies has been bucking the trend by securing new business, creating additional manufacturing jobs and also opening a new facility in the USA.

Winbro Group Technologies is among the world leaders in cooling hole technology for aero turbine engines. The company headquarters in Coalville serves customers in 16 countries around the world – supplying UK manufactured Laser, EDM and ECM turnkey machining systems and engine components produced within the company's Winbro Advanced Machining facility.

The continued growth within Winbro is a direct result of new orders for machining systems for both the home and export markets. Over 20 new manufacturing jobs have been created so far this year, taking the total number of employees in the UK to 116. Winbro's expansion plans include the consolidation of its four individual buildings, currently occupied on Whitwick Business Park, within a new facility in the near future.

“We continue to feel inclined towards further investment as we align ourselves with the needs of our customers,” said Winbro Group's managing director, Rob Folwell. “Expansion is taking place in the UK as well the US. Our initial investment in South Carolina is expected to generate 25 new jobs in the short term with further development and additional jobs planned once the plant is fully operational in January 2011.”
