Aciturri delivers the first fuselage of Lilium’s eVTOL aircraft

Aciturri says it recently completed the delivery to Lilium of the first fuselage of the Lilium Jet, the German firm's fully electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

The company thus fulfils its commitment to supply this first set in the last quarter of 2023, as Lilium begins the assembly process of the first aircraft for testing.

This delivery constitutes a milestone in the development of the project in which Aciturri is designing the fuselage in collaboration with Lilium and is in charge of the industrialisation and manufacturing, and represents an essential step towards the first flight and its subsequent certification with EASA.

The development and fine-tuning of the manufacturing processes, as well as the necessary industrial means, was carried out in record time to support the start of the assembly in September of this year. The first fuselage has arrived at the customer's facilities in the German town of Wessling, on whose final assembly line the rest of systems will be incorporated in the following weeks.

The project has involved more than a hundred Aciturri professionals, in addition to an extensive supply chain that for the first aircraft has exceeded 30 suppliers.

Aciturri has already begun to work on the production of the second unit which is planned to be delivered to Lilium at the beginning of next year, at the same time that the necessary activities are developed to support the German firm in the certification process of this airplane.

Contributing to accelerate the development of new mobility concepts fits perfectly with Aciturri's sustainability strategy. In this aspect, the company is involved in the development of a sustainable industry as a founding member of Clean Aviation - the benchmark public-private initiative in the EU for the development of new aeronautical technologies - and develops multiple R&D&I projects in a wide range of fields, such as the development of hydrogen storage and transport solutions as an alternative to the use of fossil fuels.
