Birmingham-based manufacturer AE Aerospace has been named Manufacturer of The Year for companies with a turnover below £25m at the prestigious Insider Made In The Midlands Awards.

The awards ceremony, which took place on 10th May at Birmingham’s Macdonald Burlington Hotel, celebrated excellence in regional manufacturing and has recognises the role companies such as AE Aerospace play in helping drive the Midlands Engine.

AE Aerospace beat off stiff competition from six other shortlisted manufacturers after presenting an impressive entry outlining its credentials as a world-class supplier of high quality precision machined components for the aerospace and advanced engineering markets.

More than 300 people attended the black-tie event hosted by actor, writer and presenter Alexis Conran. In its seventh year, the awards recognise the Midlands’ most ambitious and innovative companies. It encompasses nine categories and the awards are regarded as a coveted endorsement of manufacturing endeavour and innovation.

The judges said AE Aerospace was doing all the right things to keep it flying - investing in equipment, skills and really embracing Industry 4.0.

AE Aerospace managing director, Peter Bruch said: “We are delighted to have received the award. This event plays a vital role in flying the flag for Midlands manufacturing which is still widely respected across the world. Our success has shown the potential for businesses prepared to invest in the skills, technologies and processes required to compete on a global stage.”
