Wilsons, one of the UK's leading independent suppliers of aerospace metals - and part of Aero Metals Alliance (AMA) - has appointed a new service centre manager.

The new service centre manager, Matthew Taylor who joined the company in mid-November, is a specialist in sustainable business function transformations with over 15 years’ experience as an executive board member with broad business leadership and strategy experience.

His in-depth experience of operations, supply chain and strategic purchasing leadership to date is spread across the automotive, electrical, luxury goods and banking sectors with multinational networks of suppliers, management of global brands and multiple routes to market.

“I am looking forward to working at one of the world’s leading metal suppliers where the range of stock is unequalled with over 3,000 items totalling more than 10,000 tonnes of aerospace released products,” Taylor explained. “Being part of AMA means that strategic procurement from a global standpoint enables us to aggregate demand across a single supply chain to benefit customers anywhere in the world.”

Meanwhile, Mark Brown has been promoted to become vice-president of business development for Aero Metals Alliance. Since joining the group nearly two years ago, Brown has been senior business development manager.

“It is an honour to be appointed vice-president of AMA,” stated Brown. “Including some of the world’s leading metal suppliers - Gould Alloys, Service Centres Aero, Wilsons, Sunshine Metals and Progressive Alloy - the Alliance delivers a complete range of aerospace and high-performance metal products from ten locations across the globe. By introducing partners who can add value to AMA’s offering to the global aerospace industry, we intend to grow it even further.

“Our continuing challenge is to reduce waste and the costs associated with the services we provide where possible - yet still retain the already high standards and quality of the Alliance, its products and services.”
