Atlas Copco announces assembly-themed roadshow

Returning for a second year in the UK, the 2018 pan-European Atlas Copco roadshow sees the launch of its pioneering ‘Turbo Tight’ torque management technology.

Also new to Atlas Copco’s Smart Connected Assembly concept is a demonstration of collaborative robot or ‘co-bot’ working. Developments made in automation will soon enable humans and robots to work side by side on the assembly line, using highly advanced operator guidance systems and fully integrated Atlas Copco tools, linked to a production line programmable logic controller (PLC).

Visitors to the mobile exhibition unit will be able to test all the latest battery and DC-powered ‘Low Reaction’ tools and gain a detailed insight into the advances made in big data connectivity, error-proofing and joint traceability.

At the heart of Smart Connected Assembly is an absolute focus on operator safety and delivering an assembly process with zero defects. Continual improvements in ergonomics, material design and tool flexibility and performance are all contributing factors in Atlas Copco’s mission to optimise productivity and eliminate human error from manufacturing altogether.

This journey is summarised in a framework called ‘the six pillars of value’, which the roadshows enable our team to explain in context with customer operations.

As the need for traceability and audit reporting becomes ever more important too, the Smart Connected Assembly concept has adapted to this. Atlas Copco supports multiple technologies such as 3D positioning, operator guidance, ‘pick to light’ and even augmented reality systems, as part of its intelligent, networked approach to data management and reporting.

The 2018 roadshow programme is also an opportunity for customer connectivity, engaging with associates and managers to discuss the challenges facing manufacturers and we welcome input from all attendees.
