C4 Logistics launches ‘smart’ track and trace

Specialist time-critical international delivery company, C4 Logistics has launched a track and trace technology that, for the first time, matches a consignment's progress to a driver's ‘smart' phone.
The technology, which puts the customer in control through a real-time web portal and provides instant KPI reporting, is perfect for high-value products that need constant monitoring. Monitoring exactly where the consignment is in transit, the technology replaces existing solutions that only monitor the last fixed point of the journey – a manufacturing plant or a distribution centre, for example. The system was developed by the Coventry-based company because of its strong links with the time-sensitive aerospace industry.  “Supply chain personnel working in such a pressure cooker environment as the aerospace sector know of the monetary pressures of  making sure the supply chain is both lean and green as well as critical issue solutions for incidents of AOG,” said Sebastien Barth, managing director of C4 Logistics, which also works extensively in the automotive and pharmaceutical industries.  “We work in the industries with the most exacting standards to deliver time-critical logistics. Our clients need to be reassured every step of the way that delays are not going to cost them in terms of time or money. “Operating in an ‘asset-light' 4PL (4th party logistics) world where our customers rely upon peace of mind and end-to-end picture of the  journey - including the  thousands of miles of ocean to be crossed - the  track and trace GPS solution that we have developed allows clients to monitor consignments minute-by-minute. It also provides traffic dependent, ETA updates and total supply chain transparency, with money back guarantees if we fail to make the delivery through reasons within our control. “This is the future of time-critical logistics in general where such fail-safe solutions become hygiene factors rather than ‘nice to haves.'” Picture caption: Sebastien Barth, managing director of C4 Logistics (left) with commercial director Frederic Cesarion www.c4logistics.com
