Cable opens new UK academy

Dr Vince Cable MP, Secretary of State for BIS, has officially opened a flagship new aerospace and automotive academy at the Farnborough College of Technology.

The Rt Hon Dr Vince Cable MP, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, has officially opened a flagship new aerospace and automotive academy at the Farnborough College of Technology.

The facility will provide a high quality skills-based education which will prepare an unprecedented number of young people to compete for roles in these specialised areas of industry.

At the opening ceremony, Dr Cable unveiled a plaque to mark the occasion and spoke with students about the new facility and the benefits it will bring to young people, the region and industry across the UK.

“Farnborough College has built its reputation for excellence by meeting the evolving needs of both industry and students,” stated Dr Cable. “The new Aerospace & Automotive Academy is continuing in that great tradition.
"With its exceptional facilities and high quality skills-based education, including apprenticeships and higher education courses, facilities like this play a vital role in meeting our skills needs and delivering sustainable economic growth.”
