Ceratizit WNT recently joined forces with Open Mind, DMG Mori, Training 2000 and UCLAN, to present a series of half-day seminars aimed at improving machining productivity with a focus on the aerospace sector.

The sessions were fully-booked and all four sessions were well-attended. Taking place at Training 2000’s Advanced Manufacturing and Automation Centre (AMAC) in Blackburn, the sessions highlighted the cycle time savings that can be achieved on complex components, machined on 5-axis machines, thanks to the combination of Open Mind’s hyperMILL MAXX Machining CAD CAM software and WNT’s circular segment cutters

Customers from across the north west of England saw theory put into practice in the AMAC, with a demonstration that featured typical aerospace component features, such aerospace structural components and aerofoil sections.

“Making use of this combination of WNT tooling, Open Mind software and the latest 5-axis machining technology is delivering significant cycle time savings, with the added benefit of improved surface quality,” said Ceratizit WNT’s business development manager Adrian Fitts.
