Cranfield welcomes UKTI tour of facilities

UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) representatives from four countries saw firsthand the impact Cranfield University has in the aerospace sector during a VIP tour recently.

The visit of seven UKTI international investment officers was part of a fact-finding delegation from Australia, Japan, USA and Canada, as well as the rapidly developing economies of China to better understand and promote the UK's leadership in the aerospace sector.

Cranfield, who has been at the forefront of aerospace technology for over 60 years, presented its facilities, the Technology Park and examples of strong business partnerships to UKTI during the full day tour which was organised in conjunction with East of England Inward Investment.

The facilities showcased included: the National Flight Laboratory Research Centre, National High Temperature Research Centre and the Safety and Accident Investigation Centre. The Technology Park, comprising its Innovation Centre, and serviced by its development partners St Modwen, is a key aspect of the University's Innovation Habitat, along with the Cranfield University Incubation Centre (CUBIC). Currently some 60 businesses reside in this ‘habitat', ranging from pre-registered start-ups to global headquarters.

“Cranfield University works in close collaboration with many international organisations in research, consultancy, teaching and training,” said Cranfield's corporate relations and communications, Paul Marshall. “We are always pleased to support UKTI in showcasing our expertise around the world and in helping to promote what our unique institution has to offer on the international stage. UKTI have helped us build relationships with a number of important clients and we hope this will continue.”
