MAAS Aviation, globally recognised experts in aircraft painting and exterior coatings, has announced an important change to their senior leadership team, with Jan van Engelen joining as chief executive officer.

Van Engelen has over 25 years of international experience in the aviation services industry. He succeeds Tim Macdougald, who has held the position of CEO at MAAS since 2017.

Macdougald will remain active on a day-to-day basis, leading MAAS’ further growth initiatives as chief business development officer. In this new role, he will also continue to support the senior leadership team, and all colleagues at MAAS’ global facilities, utilising the skills and expertise he has gained over his 14 years with the business.

He commented: “I am proud to continue to represent MAAS and will be engaged with the business to the same extent I have always been.”

Van Engelen joins MAAS from a diverse and extensive background in the aviation sector, most recently holding the position of CEO for Continental Europe of the ground handling and aviation services company, Swissport. Prior to this, he held various senior positions within CAE, the global leader in aviation training services.

In his new role as CEO at MAAS, Van Engelen will be responsible for leading the team in pursuit of its strategic plan to drive sustainable growth, and to build and foster new and existing long-term partnerships.

He said: “I am very excited to join MAAS Aviation and am looking forward to working with the team of passionate professionals who have built the strong brand and reputation that is MAAS today. During my career I have been very fortunate to work with, and learn from, some great people and work on many exciting initiatives. I am eager to embark with MAAS on the journey ahead of us and contribute to the company’s continued success.”

Van Engelen holds degrees in Aeronautical Engineering and Business Administration. He is also an ambassador for the ‘Stitching Hoogvliegers’ (Foundation Highflyers) which provide sick, and disabled children the opportunity to become a pilot for the day.

Macdougald concluded: “These past 14 years have been transformative. We have witnessed significant growth; we have been through a global pandemic, we have partnered with Egeria Evergreen, and we continue to reach the highest standards in our industry. These achievements are collective, we could not have succeeded to this extent without the dedication and excellence of our teams. I look forward with enthusiasm and optimism as we embark on a new chapter in this great company’s development.”
