New ILA grounds take shape

Construction of the new ILA grounds is moving forward apace.

Berlin ExpoCenter Airport, which is now being built next to BER, the capital's future airport, is also gradually taking shape. A new building phase has begun with the construction of a new north bypass. An 800m long stretch of road is due for completion by the end of November, which will then replace the L75.
Stefan Grave, director of the ILA at Messe Berlin said: “The construction measures to date are well within our projected timetable. From the layout of the grounds one can already see that compared with its predecessor the new display area will be much more compact, shortening the distances visitors will need to take at the fair.” Construction work is due to be completed in spring 2012. The ILA Berlin Air Show will take place from 11-16 September 2012. An outdoor display area measuring 50,000m², designated for aircraft displays and the Bravo taxiway, is currently being built on the airport grounds for the Berlin Air Show. www.ila-berlin.com
