Pexa hosted the UK’s major aerospace and defence contractors at the AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings facilities in Leicester.

Presentations and discussions on REACH and the future direction of chromates in aerospace coatings led by Pexa’s Jim Rowbotham were followed by an overview by AkzoNobel’s Dr Peter Visser of his R&D programme into lithium-based active corrosion protection in aerospace primers.

This important technology has been patented by AkzoNobel and represents the state of the art in chrome replacement. After lunch delegates were able to apply AkzoNobel’s currently available range of chromate free aerospace primers. Pexa and AkzoNobel are together safeguarding the industry in compliance with current and future regulations on the use of hazardous materials.
