The supplier of high technology materials to the aerospace and defence industries attended the annual BCF awards dinner in Nottingham and was announced as a finalist amongst blue chip companies such as AkzoNobel, Graham & Brown, PPG Architectural Coatings and Crown Paints. The award was judged on a range of performance indicators related to sustainability and innovation in delivering that.
Pexa entered with its product Mantapac Burst Pack, an innovative packaging solution which contains two or more paint components in separate foil compartments, allowing the sections to be mixed when pressure is applied. This design permits accurate and simple measuring of quantities, as well a reduced VOC release and the elimination of up to 70% of waste.
Mantapac is Pexa's own brand of packaging which allows paints, coatings, adhesives, solvents and other chemical products to be filled into small containers suited to the end user's application. Mantapac's customers are product users who wish to have an economic quantity of a product, pre-measured and at the correct ratio; ready for use when and where they need it.
“Pexa is a specialist in the aerospace and defence industry, but as an innovative company, we are always seeking to enter new emerging markets and to widen our capabilities,” stated Pexa's managing director, Jim Rowbotham on receiving the award from BCF President Richard Chapman. “With this product, the growth possibilities are great and we intend to take every opportunity to develop this sustainable product into other sectors.”
