S.S. White Technologies, a leading supplier of flexible rotary shafts for critical aerospace applications, has signed an additional five year Long Term Agreement (LTA) for supplying flexible rotary shafts to Honeywell Aerospace.
The bespoke shafts are specifically designed to transmit rotary torque for the manual override of several turbofan engine Starter Air Valves and activation on the A380 turbofan engines Thrust Reverser Actuation Systems.
In addition, all S. S. White aerospace flexible shaft products are designed to one of the industry’s highest performance criteria by utilising a computer modelling software program developed by S.S. White called PERFLEXION.
This program allows the design engineers to more fully model the behavioural characteristics of the wire bundles within the shaft core and arrive at an optimum product that provides maximum bending flexibility and torsion strength while allowing minimal torsion deflection with up to a 30% improvement over competitive products.
