Two years on and South West Metal Finishing now offer the first commercially available electroless chemical milling surface treatment process for additive manufactured parts.
In 2015, South West Metal Finishing developed a new surface treatment process to reduce the surface roughness for additive manufactured titanium components -- now trademarked as “almbrite”.
AM has been a technique used for rapid prototyping since the late 1980’s, however with the advances in both the processes and the materials, this technology has now advanced to a point where it has been approved for both civil and defence aircrafts as well as implants for the medical industry.
The adoption of AM has been rapidly increasing year on year, with the current projected growth of the sector expected to reach $10 billion by 2025.
