TEC launches new range of courses for aerospace industry

TEC has announced a new range of courses for the aerospace industry, covering new part introduction (APQP & PPAP), Six Sigma and BS11000.

Having achieved Rev C certification, many aerospace and defence suppliers are wondering what else is on the radar? TEC is launching a new masterclass, APQP & PPAP, which will take place in Leamington on the 19-20 of November. This masterclass will bring the highest standards of the automotive industry to the aerospace and defence sectors.  The global aviation and defence primes and tier one organisations are expecting their suppliers to implement robust systems to support trouble-free new product introduction, similar to those that have been in use in the automotive sector for over 15 years.  Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) is a structured method of defining and establishing the steps necessary to assure that a product satisfies the customer – and that it can be delivered right first time, every time, on time and at cost. David Scrimshire, director of TEC, said: “Twenty years ago the automotive industry was suffering from huge problems with its supply chain, with parts often arriving at the production floor being the wrong size or otherwise mis-specified. “Having two decades to develop best practice in APQP & PPAP, many of these problems are now resolved. This masterclass will enable aerospace and defence suppliers to learn the lessons from the automotive industry, and to get it right first time for their customers.”  APQP starts with product design and then proceeds to develop a robust manufacturing system and its related process flow chart, control plan, process FMEA, MSA, FAIR, capability study, SPC and culminating in the Production Product Approval Process (PPAP). David Pitts, systems manager of TEC, said: “The APQP process must be formal, documented and be seamlessly embedded into existing AS/EN9100:2009 Rev C Quality Management System. “What is more it must represent global aerospace supply chain best practices and contain innovative approaches that can benefit your business. It must also meet the particular requirements of the global primes and tier one organisations.” TEC has also launched a new course which integrates the principles of Six Sigma, Kaizen and Lean Enterprise. The course, Six Sigma Plus, has been developed after years of implementing the three business strategies in a wide variety of organisations. Dave Bull, director of TEC, said: “Six Sigma, Kaizen and Lean each have their unique benefits. We have taken the best aspects of each, those which deliver a real, measurable business advantage, and combined them to give an interesting and highly applicable course.” www.tectransnational.com
