Turning on the edge
Five insert edge preparations for different hard metal turning applications when using Sumitomo Electric Hardmetal’s BNC2010 and BNC2020 cubic boron nitride (CBN) inserts, are said to enable specific process situations and problems to be overcome giving higher stability and greater operational consistency.
BNC 2010 has been developed to provide high precision contouring and machining with cutting speeds between 80 and 300m/min. BNC2020 is more suitable for general purpose turning and interrupted surfaces at speeds between 60 and 200m/min. The five feature edge preparation solutions for each insert grade are designated LE, LT, LS, ES and HS.
