21st Century plastics at Aero Engineering

Exhibiting for the second year at Aero Engineering, Fibracon-Insoll is looking to help aerospace engineers and supply chain managers who specify, or are considering, engineering plastics for use in aerospace components.

To emphasise the increasing importance of such plastic in its industry, parts machined from DuPont Vespel shapes have a prominent position on the stand. Polyimide offers a combination of wear resistance at elevated temperatures and components specified in Vespel have a long-term track record for use in aircraft system applications, including bumpers, wear pads, bushings, seals and shrouds.

“We are really pleased to have engineers from DuPont present on our stand throughout the exhibition and Mark Forkappa, DuPont Vespel's global aerospace manager, will present a paper at the technical forum on the 30th,” said Robyn Eaton, sales manager of Fibracon-Insoll. “At last years' show we launched our service for machining Vespel shapes and we have since received significant interest in the new higher performance Vespel SCP products, which offer engineers a unique extension to the conventional grades of polyimide available on the market.”
