The Middle East’s star is rising

 

When the Dubai Airshow returns to DWC, Dubai Airshow Site from 17–21 November, leading aerospace companies will use the platform to launch and exhibit their latest innovations to the market. The Middle East has been the rising star of the aerospace industry over the last two decades bolstered by a natural strategic location and dedicated efforts from operators and governments to foster the market, making the November event the ideal platform for the industry.

Middle Eastern growth is fuelled by passenger numbers and a clear eastward movement of the global centre of activity. At the same time, the global aerospace industry is at an exciting point as new technologies open opportunities for industrial changes that can be translated into tangible cost savings and growth.

The Dubai Airshow has over the years earned a reputation of representing all aspects of the aerospace industry, and 2019 will be no exception. From civil aviation, manufacturers and business aviation to defence and the entire supply chain, the 1,300 exhibitors at the event include the industry’s key players such as Airbus, Gulfstream, Lockheed Martin, Honeywell Aerospace and Rolls-Royce, in addition to focused niche companies.

New exhibitors to the event this year include technology and solutions focused companies ready to drive the industry forward. Among them are Italian technology providers, Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence and aviation services provider Airports World Company who have recently expanded across the Middle East with the launch of its UAE base.

Other new exhibitors hail from around the globe, including DEPO from Pakistan, INETEC from Croatia and Pattonair from the UK. Saudi Arabia continues to demonstrate its growing strength in the aerospace industry with participation of its biggest players: Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) and the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) who will be attending the event for the first time.

Key business aviation OEMs will also be represented, including Boeing Business Jets, Dassault Aviation, Airbus Corporate Jets, Textron and Pilatus.

IATA estimates by 2037, the Middle East market will reach 501 million passengers achieved by a CAGR of 4.4%. Airbus predicted in its recent forecast that by 2023 both UAE based hubs will be in the top 15 Mega Aviation Cities, with Dubai taking the top position.

Dubai Airshow 2019 will have an increased focused on sector specific conferences and pavilions, reflecting these growing industry areas and bringing together experts and key stakeholders in order to share knowledge and help drive growth. These include Cargo Connect, Global Air Traffic Management (GATM) and the Space Pavilion and Tech Talks. Each will include a dedicated pavilion on the show floor in addition to bringing together leading experts in each industry.

Each conference will address specific sector technologies: Cargo Connect will showcase international developments in next generation freight, automation and digital cargo and Global Air Traffic Management (GATM) will bring together the air traffic control ecosystem to network, learn and discuss innovative solutions accelerating the industry. The Space Pavilion and Tech Talks themed around Space 4.0: The New Era produced in collaboration with the UAE Space Agency, will host leaders at the forefront of the tech sector as they unveil advancements in rocket technology, space debris, cubesat quality improvement, satellite communication and cyber security.

A total of 1,300 exhibitors are expected at the event, attracting up to 87,000 trade attendees across the five days, ensuring that the show remains at the forefront of aerospace in the region and beyond.

The Dubai Airshow will once again include its renowned Delegations Programme, in which military and civil delegations from across the world are invited to participate, co-ordinated by show organisers, in conjunction with the UAE Ministry of Defence, Dubai’s Department of Civil Aviation Authority and the Government of Dubai. In 2017, the show hosted 279 delegations from 76 countries around the world, with that number expected to increase in 2019.
