Iconic military jets get the Haynes manual treatment

Haynes Publishing has unveiled two military aviation manuals that no self respecting enthusiast should be without as both the F-4 Phantom and the F-86 Sabre get the Haynes Manual treatment.

These fascinating manuals features cutaway drawings, technical illustrations and photographs along with comprehensive background information and specifications on the technology used on board these iconic military aircraft. The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom Manual offers an insight into owning, flying and maintaining the USAF's legendary combat jet. Expertly written by Ian Black, the F-4 Phantom remained at the forefront of US air power throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Meanwhile, the North American F-86 Sabre Manual provides a similar account of the USAF's legendary Cold War jet fighter as former RAF pilot, Mark Linney takes the reader through the history of what is said to be the world's oldest flying jet-powered aircraft. Since Haynes was founded in 1960, more than 150 million of its popular manuals have been sold throughout the world, with more than half a million in the UK last year alone. Including a selection of lavish colour and black & white illustrations, each manual is available in hardback priced at £21.99. www.haynes.co.uk
